Documents Required From Candidates
Diploma and course contents, completed diplomas, reference letter and statement of purpose are mandatory in the application procedures of graduate programs. In addition to the documentation the students who graduated in Turkey Graduate Entrance Exam (ALES) is obliged to give the results. British medium-sized universities may request additional exam results such as the internationally recognized TOEFL, GRE or GMAT. Each university and program may have different admission criteria. Master Programs
Two types of master’s degrees are given to students: master with thesis and master without thesis. Master’s programs with thesis consist of at least seven courses, one seminar and one thesis study. Non-thesis master’s programs contain at least ten courses and a term project. The time required to complete the master’s degree is 2 years.
Doctorate Programs
Doctoral programs have at least seven courses, proficiency exams and thesis. The duration to complete the courses is four semesters at most, and the period to complete the doctorate program is eight semesters. It is mandatory to have a master’s degree in order to apply for doctoral programs. With a bachelor’s degree, applicants can apply to joint doctoral programs consisting of both master’s and doctoral education.
Specialization in Medical Programs
Specialization in medical programs is equivalent to doctoral programs and universities are run by medical faculties and research hospitals affiliated with the ministry of health. Students who want to study medicine and dentistry must be successful in DUS or TUS exams.

Academic Exam Process
Academic performances in universities are determined by success and participation. Universities test students’ academic achievement with different exams, such as two midterm and one final, or one midterm and one final. Language of Education
Applicants are required to prove in the universities’ mostly Turkish languages (also English, French and German). A one-year language course is given to students who are admitted to the university but cannot receive activity in the desired language.
